Where to Eat in OKC: Milo
Hey friends.
Okay, let's talk about places to eat. The Milo is inside of the Ellison Hotel. I know we did a whole video just on the Ellison and did a little sneak peek of the Milo, but I finally got to eat brunch there this morning and it was really, really good.
First thing, my friend, Stephanie and I really were excited about it and it wasn't crazy loud. The space is small enough that you're not having echoing voices. So as two moms who like enjoying a moment to ourselves, which doesn't happen all that often, we loved the fact that it was really quiet. We had fabulous service. And the attention to detail in there with the caning on the chairs and like a tiny bit on the Navy blue benches with the pillows. I mean, they got the decor down to a T, like it's really perfection. So Bravo to whoever did that. It's amazing.
We had some mimosas, which are always lovely when you're having a momma brunch. And our lunch, I got pork adovada and it was delicious and yummy. And they had, they call it the three sisters hash and it was corn, squash, and black eye peas. So the three sisters hash is a nod to Native American culture, the three sisters being corn, squash and beans. They plant those three plants together and they nourish each other as they grow, according to my google search. So they put this little medley of vegetables together as a side dish and it was yum. I totally overcook my squash, which I now know after having perfectly cooked squash. You need to at least try this little side dish.
My friend Steph got another pork dish that had grits and an egg in a green chili sauce. It was super yummy. I also got the beet salad because I'm obsessed with the combo of beets and citrus. And it was really good. I couldn't even finish it, but it was fresh and delicious and the dressing was perfection.
I will totally get that again. There are a number of things on the menu that I would totally go back there and try again. I felt like I had to like, oh, I don't want to pick a thing, I want to pick all the things.
So then who doesn't need dessert after brunch? We decided we did. So Steph got a chocolate toffee tart. It was yum. And I got a fried pie. It was a pear fried pie. I guess they do like seasonal fruit with a goat cheese mix of cheeses on the side. It was magical. I mean really hands-down the best dessert I have had in a really long time. And there was sugared Rosemary. I'm probably not calling it all the right things, but it was phenomenal. So I think if I'm just going to treat myself and I'm in the 63rd and Grand, Classen curve area, I'm going in and getting the little fried pie to go. So good.
So you need to go and try it. You're going to love it. Location is awesome. And yeah, definitely worth a visit.
