Where to Eat in OKC: Harvey Bakery and Kitchen

Hey, friends.

Okay, I have a must-visit and eat spot for you…The Harvey Bakery and Cafe. I'm in love! It's located at 13th and Harvey, and it was the old Chrysler showroom. So it's got big soaring windows and fun architectural details.

And I'm obsessed with the staircase that goes up to a space that they call the library. You can rent it out, like if you're going to have a meeting or a work thing or a study group. I don't know how much it costs. Maybe study grouping is not cost-prohibitive. But it's fabulous.

The Harvey Bakery and Kitchen is owned by the same people that own Hall's Pizza Kitchen and they have pastries down to a science/art. And you know what? You can see them through the big curved windows. They're making the pastries and you can watch. There's even chairs and a little bar set up right there with a counter. And so you can see what they are up to in the kitchen. Today we saw pounds of butter, so yummy, getting ready to turn into something magical.

Magical blueberry coffee cake muffin.

I adore the fresh flowers on all the tables in vintage vases!

So my favorite thing I have had so far is a blueberry coffee cake muffin. It's really the best I've ever had. There are little pecans in the streusel topping that's woven throughout the muffin and it’s served in those fun little popover papers. At least I think that's what they are. Love! And they have the most gorgeous croissants.

I got back in line after eating lunch. I got a sandwich. The Cardini is a Caesar salad and steak on grilled sourdough bread. Oh my gosh, their Caesar salad is magic. How many times have I said magic? And I would like just a whole big one, but if I did that, then I couldn't have the shaved, almost looks like roast beef, but it wasn't roast beef. But it was like shaved sandwich meat and then this yummy Caesar salad, and then the grilled sourdough bread.

They sell loaves of sourdough bread. I think I would be in trouble because I would want to eat the whole thing in one sitting.  I had a mint limeade to drink, so refreshing and fun. How have I never thought to do that? Mint limeades, brilliant. I love their coffee. I had a cinnamon latte and it was yummy.

Take a fun friend with you when you go. Amy Hancock is my food adventure buddy.

Make sure you also show up accidentally wearing the same color! That is an added bonus. 😂

But the inside is beautiful. So, oh, and then little vases, little vintage vases with daisies in them today, which made me want to get out all of my vintage vases. So you need to go and you need to go more than once because you're going to love it. They also serve breakfast and have fabulous breakfast sandwich options in addition to their amazing pastries.

So go to the Harvey Bakery. You will love it, there's no doubt about it. And yeah, tell me what you get so that I can try something new. It really is one of my new favorite places!
