Where to Stay: The Ellison

Okay friends, I have a must stay location for you, the Ellison.

So the Ellison is a 120-room boutique hotel. It's under the Marriott umbrella. So for all you Marriott points people, it's perfect for you. It’s a tribute portfolio hotel, which I kind of love, it sounds super fancy, but the tribute is to Ralph Ellison, who was born in Oklahoma City.

He is an author, and scholar, and wrote the book Invisible Man, which is what he is most famous for.  And all of the details of the hotel are gorgeous. The mix of the wood and the title and all the furniture and colors and textures, you know how I feel about those. I love it.

And each of the rooms has a fun Oklahoma name, so when you're booking, be sure to look for the Tallgrass, Swallowtail, and Roserock Room.

They have a rooftop bar and pool that just opened three weeks ago.  We stayed here for our anniversary. So clearly it's a little cold in December to go to the rooftop bar and pool, but it's heated. So the summer it's going to be really fun because you have a lovely view of the city from up there and the bar has this green tile, it's gorgeous, so make that one of your stops.

Attached to the hotel is the Milo restaurant and the chef that is running that is Josh Valentine, who was the top chef finalist. So that's super cool. And they're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and their bar has this beautiful blue tile. It is so pretty I cannot even stand it. All the details are impeccable.

The location is super convenient at 63rd and Western and near all the Classen Curve shops, so if you wanted to walk to dinner or walk to some shopping, it's all right here.  When Clayton and I stayed, we walked down to Flips for dinner, an oldie, but a totally good option if you're wanting some Italian food.

So come stay at the Ellison, do a little staycation, and encourage your friends to stay here when they are in town for a visit.

We loved it! Totally staying again. You need to try it.
