Don’t Do It Yourself: Dryer Vent Cleaning
I had my dryer vents cleaned out today… and it was disgusting—a giant pile of lint, dog hair, and grossness. Get ready I will be showing you all my “dirty laundry.”
I know, I know, I am SO punny! 😂
I'm going to totally embarrass myself and show you the pile of lint. That came out of the roof. He climbed up on the roof and that was all stuck on the top. He said it was damp too. So all that warm hot air was just trapped up there! Seems pretty dangerous!
Do you see that? That was close to the vent going from the dryer! Do me a big favor! Don’t judge me!
I'm excited! I think my dryer will work better and dry stuff faster. I've heard some people go and buy a new dryer because they think it's broken. It stopped drying their clothes. But it could be the fact that they need their dryer vent cleaned out.
Do yourself a favor and call Eric. He was so nice and it's super easy to book online. He was done in 30 minutes! It was kind of very yucky and it might be all Ollie's fault. I'm going to blame it ALL on the dog.
Is he too cute to be guilty?
Here is the breakdown from Eric with Dryer Vent Cleaners:
So a lot of people think their lint trap will catch most of the debris and it catches a lot, but there's a whole bunch that goes right past it and gets stuck inside your walls. So what we do is go in and we clean that four-inch opening all the way up to your roof and suck all that lint, and dog and cat hair out, clean that out real good. Then go up to the roof and inspect it because that's where most of the clogs are in the house that I was at just now, there was pet hair and lint and it is just a whole-big clump of it there that prevents proper airflow. That's when you lead to a longer drying time and that can burn up your heating element, and also that's what increases the risk of a fire.
Lauren: All super dangerous. We don't want that.
Eric: Yes. No fires. Not good.
Lauren: And you got on the roof.
Eric: I got on the roof. Always do a visual inspection and we got to make sure there's airflow because if there's no airflow, there are no clothes being dried.
Lauren: So you've turned it on reverse.
Eric: I did. So after I suck it all out, it would be more fun to just blow it all out. I don't want to make the neighborhood look like it's snowing, so I suck out as much as I can. Then put the vacuum on the reverse and anything that's left in there, and get a nice little snow flurry mix outside. But as soon as you feel that air, you know that you are good to go.
Lauren: Okay, thanks. It was quick and easy.
Eric: Yeah. That was really easy. 30 minutes. Book an appointment online or give me a call at 405-696-7785 and we'll take care of you.
Thank you, Eric! Yay! No more dog hair in my vent.
