Where to Eat in OKC/Edmond: Cafe 501

Okay. Let's talk about lunch options and dinner and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Cafe 501, has been one of my favorites for a long time.

The location in Edmond has been open for years. They have a newer location in Classen Curve that's bigger. It's so good. They did a makeover recently this year, and it's so cute in there.  I love all the decor and their desserts are fabulous, so delicious.  So I got some just so we could talk about it. Not because I wanted to eat them. Totally going to throw them away when I'm done. Not really. Okay. I got a chocolate chip cookie. I mean, you can't go wrong with that. I'm trying a new one, a cornflake cookie, never had it. Looks really simple and delicious.  Now, let's talk about two of my favorite things.  So the lemon bar is out of season, but I love their lemon bars because they're super tart. And the pecan bars, it's like the best part of a pecan pie without the gushy, runny middle. I don't like that part. My poor mom doesn't like it when I do it, but I like to pick the pecans right off the top of the pie and leave the mushy middle. So it's all the best parts.  Then my friend Olivia, introduced me to this, a ricotta cheese cookie, which might make you go, oh, I don't want to eat ricotta. Yes, you do. You want to eat ricotta cheese because it's so yum. I'm not a super sweet lover when it comes to desserts. Give me all the shortbread cookies that just are not too sweet. And so I feel like the ricotta cheese cookie kind of has that where it's not too uber-sweet, which is totally up my alley.

So they're doing a fun thing. They've changed their menu recently. Not quite sure why because I mean, I guess all things need to be revamped. Change is good. I loved their old menu. So they're bringing back some of their old favorites. So today as a special, so it's not all the time, I had the tenderloin salad.  It was so good with blue cheese. I love their dressing and the tenderloin was super, like its name says, it was tender. They cooked it really well.  I love their tomato soup. We get that. The kids love their pizzas. Their salads are just my favorite. Any of them, the 501 salad has pears, so yum.  You need to go to 501. I know I say that about everything, but if somebody's coming to town and I'm saying, where are some places you should try? This is one of them because it's so yum and it's consistently good, and the service is awesome. So Cafe 501, put it on your list.
