A Date Night Favorite: Cheever’s Cafe

I would like to talk about Cheever's Cafe. It is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at for special occasions. It is a good spot. I always pick Cheever's for my birthday dinner. Tonight, we enjoyed it for our 22nd anniversary. My sweet husband, Clayton, let me choose where we ate because that's what you do when you've been married for a long time, and that's how you stay married. You let your wife choose.

Let's talk about dessert first because it's the most important. They have an ice cream ball that is rolled in spicy pecans, chocolate, and caramel. You can get the regular size, half of the regular size, or even a quarter of the regular size. The regular size is the size of a grapefruit. I, personally, think half of one is plenty. I like that you have options.

Next, let's talk about appetizers. The Good Egg makes the best chicken strudel. It is so rich, delicious, yummy, and magical. I always like to get it at Kitchen 324. I've also had the blue cheese potato chips, and I think they are magical. The blue cheese chips are the only appetizer that comes in a half.

For entrees, I love their chicken fried steak. They serve jalapeno gravy with their chicken fried steak. The half portion is plenty because the full portion is two steaks.

A couple of years ago, my husband and I went to Cheever's for my birthday, and do you know who we had lunch with? Russell Westbrook. I mean, technically, he was getting takeout and didn't sit with us, but it was neat to see him. I probably wouldn't have even noticed that it was him, but my husband recognized him. We share a birthday and we both just happen to pick the best place to eat for our birthdays.

You must put Cheever's on your list of places to try. It is definitely a staple in the Oklahoma City dining destinations.
