What to Do in OKC: Festival of the Arts

Let's talk about things you must do in OKC. The Festival of the Arts!

So Dad and I always go to the Arts Festival. That's our tradition. We avoid Saturdays and Sundays. We really like to go Tuesday when it first opens if the weather's good and then the grass isn't trampled. That's the goal. But today, we went on Friday because we were checking the weather and it was the least hot day.  But it was very windy! Our strategy is always to walk the food booths first on either side of the Civic Center to make sure we know all of our options before we settle. Sometimes they mix things up and we don't like that too much when they make changes to our route, but we managed through this year.

Festival of the Annual Tradition with Dad

We love food and art and spending time together!

We went with the best of the best savory spot and the best of show. I got a bulgogi rice bowl that was delicious, really good. And we went to the burger place for a green chile burger. And then always, always the Strawberries Newport. They have been a staple at the Festival of the Arts for 38 years!

The Number One Festival Dessert Choice

That’s not plain whipped cream! It’s fresh whipped cream and amaretto custard. They go through 30 gallons of whipping cream a day!

I'm really glad that it's back in-person again, back to the tents. The art was fabulous as usual. I feel like there are more local people this year than usually are, but... So, you need to go.

It is even more fun when your friends tag along!

It's always in April. And it is always before the Memorial Marathon. So, come out to the Festival of the Arts and get some delicious food and buy some art and listen to some good music!
