Where to Eat in OKC: The Drum Room

Lauren: Okay. Dad's back. We tried a new restaurant today that's been around for like 11 years, so we're clearly behind in the times that we didn't go yet. But we have a must-try option in Oklahoma City for you.

The Drum Room ... fried chicken. You don't have to drive all the way to Okarche. You can get really good fried chicken. All the lights over the tables are drums. Drum Room.

Lauren's Dad: Yeah. And they have a conga drum right at the end of the bar.

Lauren: They do.

Lauren's Dad: ... which I guess you could ... Well, I don't know.

Lauren: They might not want you to play it.

Lauren's Dad: Yeah, maybe not.

Lauren: We didn't -

Lauren's Dad: ... unless you're really good. If you're good at the congas, you could come in and play at the end of the bar.

Lauren: We didn't ask permission or how that would…

Lauren's Dad: We didn't. We didn't play them.

Lauren: We did not. We got chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy.

Lauren's Dad: Good. Real mashed potatoes.

Lauren: Yes.

Lauren's Dad: Real mashed potatoes.

Lauren: Really yummy. Good white gravy. And I got okra. Love. I love okra. Dad doesn't eat okra.

Lauren's Dad: Not for me.

Lauren: He had a-

Lauren's Dad:

But it was okay.

Lauren: ... a bad experience with okra.

Lauren's Dad: Yeah. Didn't save enough room for dessert.

Lauren: We didn't. But they have two La Baguette desserts, Key lime pie, and something else. They serve brunch on Saturday and -

Lauren's Dad: Yeah, on Saturday and Sunday. 10:00 to 3:00. If you're looking for a close ... I mean, well, if you live here ...

Lauren: Western and -

Lauren's Dad: Yeah. Across from VZDs, which you've probably heard of.

Lauren: Right. Everyone's heard of VZDs, right?

Lauren's Dad: Absolutely.

Lauren: So we think you should go and try it. I'd love to go back for brunch.

Lauren's Dad: Yeah.

Lauren: I think that would be fun.

Lauren's Dad: Yeah, just food is great. Service is great too. It's good people and good food.

Lauren: Agreed. We think you should go.

Lauren's Dad: Absolutely.
