There are certain restaurants you just trust, and Lorena has quickly become one of those for me. It’s the kind of place where you don’t overthink the order because everything coming out of the kitchen feels intentional and well done.
Located right in Midtown across from The Ambassador, the setting alone makes it a great choice for a night out. Inside, it’s welcoming, beautiful, and full of charm. One of my favorite details is the story behind the name.
What to Order at Lorena
For starters, the Two by Two by Two is a must. You get two deviled eggs, two fried green tomatoes, and two pimento cheese with crackers, and it’s perfect for sharing. The pimento cheese is phenomenal, and those crackers are dangerously good.
We split the fried chicken, and it was cooked just right. The portion was generous, the green beans were super smoky, and everything felt comforting without being heavy. This is Southern comfort food that feels elevated but still familiar.
The peach hand pie is fantastic and truly magical. I love a fried pie!!
Cocktails, Happy Hour, and the Overall Vibe
The drinks here are just as thoughtful as the food. The Fig and Folly cocktail was delightful, and they even have wine on draft, which somehow makes the whole experience even more fun. Happy hour is absolutely worth checking out if you want to enjoy great food and drinks at a really good value.
Service was wonderful, prices felt fair, and the entire experience felt easy and enjoyable from start to finish.

Lorena is the mother of the owner of Stella, and her original recipes inspired some of the standout dishes on the menu today. Seeing her recipe handwritten on the wall behind the booths is a small detail that instantly makes the space feel personal and full of heart. It’s a nod to family, tradition, and the kind of cooking that sticks with you long after the meal is over.
